Mario kart Wii! It has a great roster and pretty cool tracks, also it introduced the bikes and I love running on bikes. I loved doing wheelies and doing jumping tricks on the speed boost pannels of the walls. I miss that, now you can run through walls but its not the same feel.. Everybody hated that Rainbow Road but I LOVED it lol, I got to master that hell of a track to the point that it was the easiest and most comfortable track for me to run lol
Yeah. It was part of the first line of Nintendo Wi-Fi games that came on the DS, features a lot of replay value with the amount of characters and karts to unlock, the challenge modes and basically the game that really introduce competitive play in Mario Kart.
My favorite probs has to be Double Dash to continue this bandwagon, but let me back up why:
Not only is it nostalgic cause me and my older brother used to play it a-lot, but I think Double Dash has the most goofiest and light-hearted feel of Mario Kart the modern ones don't have. Mario Kart 8 is fun and good, don't get me wrong, but it feels different in a way... there's multiple of factors in this, fonts, speed, the music, and the overall tone. Mario Kart 8 has this feel of an "epic adventure" while Double Dash is "fuck it, two people on a cart, big-ass shells and special items!" Double-Dash captures what Mario Kart is, silly and fun. Yea, the whole concept of Mario Kart is silly, but DD embraces it onto a whole level.
I haven't really played the newer Mario Kart games after Double Dash until Mario Kart 8 when I got myself a Nintendo Switch that came with the game. I think for myself, I would go with Double Dash because I liked the team up mechanic but I will also say that I've enjoyed Mario Kart 8 as well. I haven't played it all that much but from the short time I have, I've thoroughly enjoyed it.
My nostalgia says 64. I like the courses and I think the Battle Mode is the best out of the series (at least the ones iv'e played). Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is probably my second favourite despite it making me disoriented/overwhelmed at times.
Two of my favourite courses come from Mario Kart DS though, Tick-Tock Clock and Walugi's pinball. So shout out to those.
Wii is my favorite because it was the game that made me a Mario fan and later a Nintendo fan. I love the character roster, the vehicle selection, there's a lot of fun new courses, and I actually like the motion controls. My only major gripe is that the retro courses are pretty lame. Other than that, I love it. My 2nd favorite would be 8 because it's also got a great roster (with my 5 favorite Mario characters and Link!), some really awesome new and retro courses, and it improves on the new features from 7. Also, Link. Did I mention Link?
