Rules:
-Say the Full name of the game.
-You must have played it.
-Explain Why you like it.
-What genre it is from.

Mine is Shovel knight:
It's an Jump 'n' Run-adventure in which you are able to play as Shovel knight, Plaque knight and Specter knight.
I love this game generaly because of the simple mechanics and yet hard levels which you don't find nowdays in most 2D games.

God of War.
Absolutely love everything about this game. The gameplay is wonderful but the storyline had a very personal and profound effect on me. Aside from enjoying the Norse mythology themes, it's filled with moments of overcoming grief and misunderstandings. The journey to self-reflect and allow yourself to grow. It also touches on mistakes, be they great ones or trivial, and how they shape us rather than rule us.

Marvel's Spider-Man.
This game is really, really fun and emotional. Very nice narrative and consideration for other characters. The whole thing just meshed together in all the right places. I will say that the DLC's are kind of unnecessary though.

All of the following games are either J-RPGs or RPGs for PS4.

Dragon Quest 11: I loved the characters. The atmosphere. I felt like Square wanted us to think that they were relying on old-fashioned clichés but there were so many plot-twists within the game, regarding the characters and the story, that I can't help but love it. The design of the characters and the world were amazing. The crafting system was neat, too. Rionaldo (Silvano in English) was my favorite character in it. So cheerful, supportive and kind. I just liked having him around because he seemed to spread joy and fun everywhere. But, man, the plot-twists, so good. I was so shocked when one of my party members actually died. I didn't expect this from a DQ game. It was definitely worth waiting for.

Y's - Lacrimosa of Dana: I never played any game of this series and I only bought this as a last resort. I was so tired of always having to re-play the games I already know by heart (good J-RPGs are so rare these days) and I saw someone mentioning this in a discussion. I went totally blind into it. The story started rather slow but became very soon more than just people being stranded on an island. Just loved how the story-telling changes between Dana and Adol and how every new area is worth exploring because you actually get new techniques. And there is a bird. A parrot. Paro is awesome. He should have been the main character. :D

Again, so many unexpected plot-twists, the music is soothing and whenever a game offers more than one ending I will gladly take it.

Undertale: I know it's an old game and all, but I don't play games on my PC. I have consoles for this and my PC is not even made for games. So, I'm very happy that this game came out for PS4 and Switch. ♥

When my favorite YouTuber Jacksepticeye started playing Deltarune, I thought I should watch his Undertale series first. Kind of had the impression these games were related, but they're unrelated. Didn't know anything about the game. Had no idea what to expect. I know that the hype around it was big and that people hated the game so much (for whatever reasons...?), but I don't judge a game on what other people say or how the fandom acts. Every fandom has rabid idiots, so I didn't catch any of the fandom wars. I rather make my own opinion without listening to others.

Well,  I was blown away by the story-telling, the absolutely fantastic writing and all those little secrets hidden within the game. Like, the introduction scene with Flowey surprised me so much. I never had this in any other game. This game dares to troll the player. Breaking the forth wall several times, too.  Kao emoji (w-what??-01)

My decisions actually have value. I bought the game for the PS4 now and as stupid as it might sound for others who think this game is "overrated" - I think it's one of the best games I've ever played. Sure, the design and graphics are simple, but I just love how the player (me) is a part of this game and actually gets to decide how I want to play this game. There are so many games that rely on fighting/battle system, but this game relied on world building and character's to make this world even more fun to explore. The dialogues, the comedy in it, the sinister atmosphere and all those secrets around the main characters are just amazing.

There were other games I played this year, but none of them made me think about them for such a long time like these three did. Undertale by far my favorite in 2018. Kao Emoji-02 (Pretty Eyes) [V1]

Now I'm waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3 and Vesperia to come out for PS4. :D

top 2 faves:

-Final Fantasy XV and Nier automata

FFXV: I'm not gonna put it gently, out of all the games in the franchise this one is the weakest because of how much of the story had to be cut out due to time restraints. But it all made up for it for the lovable characters and it was nice seeing a game portray brotherhood and the gameplay was super fun too. It also inspired me to make over 100+ fanarts which is a complete first for me because I never done this much fanart for a single fandom EVER( i was mostly an oc artist before then)

Nier Automata: Beautiful music, beautiful character design, and a beautiful storyline that left me feeling blown away in the end (also in tears). The gameplay is sorta meh going by Platinum standards, but being this is the first yoko taro game with actual decent gameplay I'll let it pass. Was still fun. Also butt.

Mine is Ruiner, it's a twin-stick shooter (same style as hotline miami). It's my favourite game from the last two years because it's the only game I've played from then besides "Getting over it". And also because it has so much style, and the soundtrack is very good. The gameplay was the worst thing about it, it would be really good but the controls are bad and it felt kind of slowl/sluggish (that might have been my computer).

hm never heard of it. sounds interesting
I've eventually made it up with The Witcher 3 DLCs - it was magnificent. Also adorable Hollow Knight and Dead Cells. Currently playing Just Cause 4 - still miss jungles at my previous job for www.bisonconstructions.com.au - it took place at Tasmania and it looked like heaven for me. After it maybe will go for Mutant Year Zero or Jagged Alliance Rage - in love with Xcom.

Problem: I've never played any games developed in 2017-2018. I wasn't interested in the games that came out during those two years.
However, I can provide a game from any other year;

1) SCP: Containment Breach

2) Played it some time ago

3) I love how it utilizes very unique game mechanics in an environment I haven't in a lot of horror games. It has various enemies all unique from one another requiring different methods on dealing with them in randomly generated maps. It's like a different horror game every time I fire it up.

4) Survival horror

Guilty Gear Xrd's Rev 2 expansion was recent so as far as I'm concerned the entire game plus that DLC pack counts. I find four button anime fighters a lot more simplistic, straight forward and more rewarding than traditional six button titles.
Both recent Assassin's Creed games. Historical accuracy was off in places but they have an improved formula over their predocessors. I have a soft spot for Origins just because of the Egyptian setting but Odyssey is the better title.
Sonic Mania feels more classic sonic than the genesis classic titles combined. Frankly the return of actual momentum is the important part here. No more holding boost to win. No more weird camera angles while going through a shuttle loop. Just back to classic. I enjoyed the above titles but Mania's the only one that had me grinning from ear to ear. My favourite game from 2017/18

didn't play sonic mania but heard it's way better than what sega does
Waaay better than what Sega has been doing that's for sure.

Kind of not valid because it's a 'remaster' but Dark Souls Remastered. I can play it on the go. Some other choices are:
-Cuphead. I can't say anything that hasn't already been said.
-We Happy Few. Not super fun to play, but its world is gorgeous and plot was super compelling.
-Shovel Knight. You know.
