Welcome!!!

First off, I would like to welcome you to the largest online art community in the world! You are in excellent company. deviantART (dA) is not just a place to submit art—it’s so much more than that. On dA, you can do anything from submitting art, to conversing in real time chat, to entering contests, to blogging in your journal. If you’re interested in art and like feeling part of a community, this place is definitely the place for you. I just want to tell you a bit about different aspects of our community:

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
This is the most useful place for a new person to find answers to questions they might have. You have over 500 questions in the searchable database, and it is a very rare thing when a user has a question that the FAQ doesn’t have an answer to. So make sure you check it out if you have any questions: FAQ. If you happen to have a question that isn’t answered in the FAQ, then feel free to contact the Help Desk.

Submitting Art
It’s very easy to submit art to your gallery. All you do is click the little “Submit” button at the top of the page and there you go!

Browsing Art
deviantART has over 20,000,000 pieces of art work for you to check out! There is the browsing feature that allows you to peruse by art type and by date of submission or by favorites.

Purchasing Art
When people get something called a Prints Account (mentioned below), they can submit art that can be printed. Those prints are displayed at the deviantART Shop. There, anyone and everyone can purchase prints and products (mouse pads, mugs, puzzles, etc) of their liking.

Services
There is also a little “Services” button at the top of all the pages. In there, you may purchase a subscription to deviantART, a Prints Account, or Ad Space. Subscriptions to the site simply give you more features. Yes, you can still upload art and such, but you will get ad-free browsing, larger thumbnails, advance journaling features, and some other features. A Prints Account allows you to share your art with the world. You can create art, submit it, and then set your sale price. If your prints sell well, you can definitely make a nice little profit off them. Lastly the Ad Space is for people who want to help promote themselves.

dAmn: deviantART Messaging Network
deviantART has a built-in chat network! It is one of a kind, specifically made for dA. No other sites have something like this. Here, you can join in art chats, general chat, and thousands of other types of chatrooms. You can even make your own! This is definitely one of dA’s coolest features and it embodies the spirit of dA’s community.

Forums
If real-time chat is too fast for you, you can also find good quality discussion on the Forums. Here, things from Art to WindowsXP are discussed in their appropriate forums. Be sure to check them out!

So that is the basic rundown and structure of deviantART.com. Be sure to explore things out on your own. Check out what you like to do on here and check out the community. Remember that if you have any questions, check out the FAQ.

Now, go be devious! :D
