I'm an old reg and much prefered it when the mods said something witty or at least specific when they locked threads. A simple "locked becasue this is turning into a flamewar" or "locked for faggotry" was much better than the textwall they use now. To me it comes off as a little patronizing, but I tend to be a little hypersensitive to that sort of thing.
I did get a thread in the meetups forum locked becasue I didn't use really specific phrasing in my post. I wanted to see how many Central Californians were around before speculating a meetup, but apparently that's an improper use of the forum. I don't know, it was kinda retarded.
I've heard some mods would make sarcastic comments before locking in the past, I'd like to see those. I don't think they should do a message like this for each thread they lock up, it would ruin the element of surprise it would be time-consuming especially since some wouldn't even care about those messages. I don't make threads, and don't feel like breaking rules for fun. I felt like the only reason this thread could be locked would be because of tags, because during these times it seems like tagging annoys some people, or that tag equals callout, but I don't think it's technically breaking the rules since it promotes discussion.
I remember when one ban dodger posted a thread ranting about one of the mods real fierce, said mod appeared and DID put abit of a sly statement to them without outright insulting the guy before happily locking his thread....guy blew up even harder and attracted DA's attention before they swatted him away. Funny as hell. xD
No wasent a recent one either; and guy is still banned I believe. It was 5 or so months ago I think.
1 - Do you wish the mods would just tell you how they really feel? Not really but I wish their message for locking threads wasn't so bland. Though it can be funny when they do as long as it's not to your own thread I remember didn't one of them I think it was Mrs durden locked a threat and in her message she said something like "not sure what part of you thought it was OK to post this" I thought that was pretty funny
2 - Do you think that maybe you could try and follow the rules here so that they didn't have to keep locking your dumb ass threads?
Lol I've never even had one of my threads locked. Even though two of them were basically call-outs one was praising someone getting banned one was complaining about someone I never said his name but everyone knew who I was talking about he actually called the mods on that if I remember correctly
3 - Do you think that this this thread will be locked because the truth hurts, and we just can't have people speaking truth to power anywhere in the forums?
4 - Don't you just love it when a plan comes together? yea
I have many complaints about the mods here, but locking threads is not one of them. I can't think of a single locked thread that I feel was locked wrongly. And their "We appreciate your use of the forums..." shpeel always makes me lol (in a good way).
Long time ago thread locking reasons were often either 1 word or very brief, depending on who did the locking of course. A more standard protocol that all follow makes sense in some ways. I guess it’s like any customer service position where you’d like to strangle someone but can’t. Edit: Yes I know they aren’t paid
