:bulletblack: President Trump has fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. CIA Director Mike Pompeo is Trump's pick to replace Tillerson. Gina Haspel, CIA deputy director, will be nominated to replace Director Pompeo. If confirmed, she will be the first woman to lead the CIA.

:bulletblack: President Trump's personal aide Johnny McEntee was fired because he is currently under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security for serious financial crimes. The charges are not Trump related. McEntee was fired and escorted from the White House on Monday. Minutes after news of his departure broke, the Trump campaign announced McEntee would be joining the reelection effort as a senior adviser for campaign operations.

UPDATE:
Tillerson calls out Russia in farewell statement

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called out Russia in his farewell statement on Tuesday, telling reporters that “much work remains to respond to the troubling behavior and actions on the part of the Russian government.” The comment was notable given how hesitant President Donald Trump, the man who just fired Tillerson, has been to condemn Russia for meddling in the 2016 election. “Russia must assess carefully as to how its actions are in the best interest of the Russian people and of the world more broadly. Continuing on their current trajectory is likely to lead to greater isolation on their party, a situation which is not in any one’s interest,” Tillerson said.

Earlier today, President Trump told reporters that he liked Tillerson, but they disagreed on key issues, such as the Iran nuclear deal.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said he is delegating all authorities as of today to Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan. Tillerson’s official end will be at midnight on March 31.

You forgot to mention Tillerson's aide, ex-aide, Steve Goldstein who was also sacked. The reason for his sacking was that he "contradicted" the WH by saying Rex had no knowledge of why he was sacked... that's a "lie" because, everybody knows Trump sent a TWEET a couple hours before. That's right- they're claiming his tweet was the official message firing Rex Tillerson, probably the most highly qualified and decent person in the entire administration.
No word on any of the other people who worked for Goldstein/Tillerson- but my guess is that they to have been or will eventually be sacked.

It appears that at some point, everyone is going to get sacked and then possibly replaced. :stare:

The same people who said "who cares about the first female president if she's a crook? Lock her up!" are now getting a woman who's responsible for the torturing of people who were imprisoned indefinitely and going "look out kids, it's the first female CIA leader! Isn't that totally SWAG??? B-)"

Trump still thinks that he's in the apprentice.

He's firing people that can tie him to Russia. Plus, most of his picks are not going to work with him but, against him. Without the president breathing down their backs, they can speak freely.
Draggah-N's avatar
Tillerson had just called out Russia for the poisoning in Britain. I think that, and his previous tougher-than-expected stance on Russia is why he was fired.
kitsumekat's avatar
And he was the enemy to Trump.
Draggah-N's avatar
He became an enemy to Trump but certainly didn't start as one. Trump gave him the job in the first place, after all.
kitsumekat's avatar
He also almost gave a job to Rick Perry and a job to Bannon.
Draggah-N's avatar
Well Bannon was on Trumps team all along and Perry started sucking up as soon as Trump won the nomination.

Lol the name McEntee reminded of the fictional character called
"Troy McGinty" from a movie that came out when I was 9.

Mc Entee sounds like a stereotypical name for a French cartoon character.

The name McEntee reminds of something that belongs in a Happy Meal box. :paranoid:

McEntee was less than desirable anyway.
piggies-go-moo's avatar
And yet, they also announced McEntee would be joining the reelection effort as a senior adviser. :stare:

Also I love your icon. :aww:

Eh. It is hard to get rid of the pests after all.
And thank you. Yours is nice too.

LOL, if I didn't know any better I would say I was at /v/ in 4chan. There's so much hate and anger in the comments here. but to answer your request for my thoughts on these matters.
Bullet; Pink Mike Pompeo replacing Rex Tillerson.
This is probably going to sound like a liberal talking point but I don't trust anyone trump picks. Pompeo might be a good guy for the job but I don't know him well enough to draw that conclusion but to that point aliens could be invading and I wouldn't notice because I'm focusing on this Russia business.
Bullet; Pink First female CIA director is Gina Haspel.
Meh.
Bullet; Pink Johnny McEntee under criminal investigation but still going to be a senior advisor.
That's hilarious, why does Trump keep picking people with investigations against them?
deviant-garde's avatar
Pompeo is just a water carrying stooge like the rest of the appointees Trump favors but he's bound to be more competent than Rex Tillerson ever could be.
Space-between-spaces's avatar
I'm pretty sure this is going to be a defining moment in American political history, assuming we aren't destroys by Trump's dom.

Rex Tillerson was a terrible pick to begin with. It doesn't really matter if he's gone today aside from the lack of continuity in a country beleaguered by serious and delicate foreign policy issues, but after fucking up this badly "continuity" is hardly a massive benefit.
