Yeah, but the "Turkish" people as we know them today are what we call, from an ethnic standpoint, a mix between its native Anatolian population (Eastern European descent, in there with the Greeks and Thracians) and Arab-descended people who took over, subjugated, and committed a genocide or two in the Middle Ages and thereafter.
Then again, nothing really made sense about that island in the movie... about how they could have women of both Nordic and Sub-Saharan African phenotypes living in the same space means the filmmakers didn't think things like racial accuracy were really that important.
And said Themescyra, wich actually appears in Greek mythology as the home land of the Ares worshipping Amazons, was supposedly located in Asia Minor wich is Turkey making Wonder Woman basicly Turkish. Location wise.
I think there is an actual city called Themescira in Greece but I don't think it has any relation to the Amazon myth.
Not really. If you know anything about history, you know the Turks didn't arrive in Asia Minor until the Middle Ages. It was Greek until that time. Of course, the Amazons are a fictional ethnicity who were based on the Scythians (a basically extinct ethnicity), so this whole discussion is moot. Any woman who looked vaguely Mediterranean, or even just white in general, and fit some basic physical standards could convincingly play Wonder Woman.
Well she looks the part so why not. She could be a bit taller though.
And Israeli jewish girls tend to be pretty badass since they get conscripted to the army too(actual equality FTW). My sister learned how to keep socks fresh when you're abroad without a way to wash them from two Israeli girls she met on Interrail.
