Art without Mature Filter - A concept

FloatingOnEarth's avatar
Hiya! I'm 15, and due to that, my maturity filter is on. I don't want to see anything 'sexual' on my browse page or in my feed. However, this never works out. I was just looking through the most popular last 8 hours, and have found multiple pictures that I feel most sensible people would consider mature.

I'm not saying that every single picture of someone with boobs and butts should be censored, but there are some that go over the top.

Like pictures of people in bikinis or underwear doesnt bother me, but?? idk just look what I mean.

no hate to the artists of these pictures, but here are some examples of what I mean. (From least offending to most)

Mature Content

(Barely Censored) - Artist has tagged as mature after making this post -

Mature Content

Kali special 500 by BikoWolf1

(Literally is taking off underwear in the picture) - Artist has tagged mature after making this post -

These are just three examples of what I am talking about. Please do not spam any of the three pictures with hate/chatter.

I, as a 15 year old, was very surprised to see that these were not marked as "mature" as to me, they seem very over-sexualized. The middle picture, it's not as bad to me, but it is still tipping the scale a bit.

I felt the need to complain about this, as I really hate scrolling through this, especially with my mother or father in the room, and coming across something like this.

This is proof for anyone who wishes to tell me these are marked as mature, I have mature turned off, and have since I joined the site.

I.....don't see the issue... :/
FloatingOnEarth's avatar
The two bottom deviations were in need of a mature filter! I made this thread to show how many artists don't tag mature photos as mature! Maybe read it(and the comments and replies), sometimes its hard to just look and see an issue!

Still don't see the issue....

Then this doesn't concern you! Move along please!

Honestly don't think any of these need a filter but I get where you are coming from. The first one is fine though I personally don't mind seeing that in my feed but can understand why someone else wouldn't.

I agree with the other posters in here, DA needs some kind of new filter. I don't mind seeing boobies (and other body parts) in an art study or anatomy study but I don't like seeing them in pretty much pornographic scenarios.

I'm no conservative. I have drawn NSFW art for my commissions and I don't even mind. It's just when I'm on here browsing pieces then I want to see art that I like, not what some of my clients like.

Also when you have been drawing naked women for 8 hours...you really don't feel like seeing more.

none of these requires to be tagged mature.Did you read what dA considered mature?
FloatingOnEarth's avatar
You're incorrect! The bottom two do, and the top was an example of close-to-it!

Maybe you should read what DA considers mature again! Also maybe don't be so matter-of-fact with a minor who was stating an opinion on things that involve them! Thanks for your comment but please read the guidelines before you comment again! Thanks!!

What's really annoying is when you set up a fake birthday, correct it, then it's all like "You can't have mature content because you signed up with this birthday" then mature content not only filters porn, it straight-up BLOCKS any mature content; small cursing, minor gore, political art, you name it.

The first one doesn't even need a mature filter.
FAQ #220: What is Mature Content?
FAQ #554: Is my deviation Mature Content?
I get you might not want to see big round sexualized boobs on exposing cleavages, but that doesn't mean the artist should unfairly censor their art and put it behind a tag that will drive many watchers away.

I just hope you're not reporting similar art because it's due to unfair reports like those that users who follow the rules get art taken down.

Now let me teach you about nudity and how dA forces you to tag it as mature content while artistic nudity most of the times lacks an erotic/arousal intention and it's only pure anatomical study or art showcasing the beauty of human body.

Anyway, I get what you say and I really hope they will implement a tag filter or something. Sadly the vast majority of fetish posters don't put a maturetag on their content.

Edit: typos.

You should read my replies!! They state almost all of what you said in the first paragraph! I've said about 3 or 4 times now that I don't think the first one should get a mature tag! It was a simple example of tipping-the-scale! Please read replies in forums!! It adds on very much information to the poster's feelings!

And Nudity, even female nipples, are not allowed on television shows that are rated PG-13! So it makes sense that they would be marked mature, because this site is Pg-13!

Thank you for the information but it was unneeded!

I already did before commenting. I've been lurking for 4 years here.

Sorry, but according to this sites rules, those dont need to be market mature.
FloatingOnEarth's avatar
Yes! If you are talking about the first picture. However I don't believe you read the site rules, if you are speaking about the last two.

"The first one is perfectly fine, since we cannot see any nipples and her hands are clearly simply being placed on her chest and not massaging them. The second one is a yes as even though the genitalia was censored, the character is still naked -  therefore, the image, according to DA's rules, still required a mature tag. The same can arguably be said about the third one - not because of the pose, not because of the bra not properly being on the body, and not because of the simple fact she's only in a bra and panties, but because she's wearing panties that are exactly as good as not wearing anything at all."

What you think about violence in pictures?
FloatingOnEarth's avatar
I don't mind much of anything. I don't like graphic and detailed violence, such as up close gashes and such. But once again, other children might feel differently.
Raskolnikow110's avatar
Really? 15...a child?!
Than you should sit down and listen what the adults tell you, and not so much contradict...
Just kidding, but you feel still not able to make first own decissions?
FloatingOnEarth's avatar
If you read through my replies, my main point is that I know other kids parents, even those of kids older than me would get their kids in trouble for just having that on their screen! Even the first picture, which isn't in need of a mature tag imo, or most others opinions!!

I do make many decisions on my own, as I'm going to college soon and will have to make my own decisions soon!

I feel the same way but with trypophobia artwork. :'(
ZethHolyblade's avatar
A clear situation where a search tag filter would do wonders for the user.

I wasn't aware about that phobia until a few years back when I had a student who genuinely suffered from it.. in Medicine :o. It happened as we were reviewing injuries. If a normal person has to struggle a lot with this, I ponder how much worse it'll be for her as a future doctor whenever she runs across it.
YangXiaoFan457's avatar
Agreed filters would be nice. If the artist also makes sure to put it in the tag.

I first discovered I had this phobia when someone showed me picture of one of those lotus pods. I couldn't understand it at first but I felt really uncomfortable seeing it. That's when they told me I had trypophobia.

Hopefully that student overcomes it since yeah she will see a lot of things like that.
