The best software to start speedpaints [Recording and video editing]

Lunathyst's avatar
I've been wanting to do speed paints for a while, mainly for those who want to watch me work but can't access my streams due to timezones and the like! I've tried a few things, my streaming software (OBS) is able to record while I stream but trying to transfer this through to windows movie maker it's having difficulty and won't exactly work..

I've done this in the past and it has worked fine but there is much difficulty now for some reason lol.

I'd love something where I can speed up my process into medium size videos, add music etc. That would be great!

I'm currently using Windows 7 on my computer if this helps. It's a custom built desktop computer too.

Thanks for your help!
If you have any questions I don't mind answering them below!

Firemidnight is right. The best video screen capture/editor software is camstasia from techsmith.

tbh obs is pretty good! but if you go out looking for another, do not, and i repeat, DO NOT download screencast-o-matic, it downloads 11 viruses-

Oh gosh, I will keep that in mind, that's crazy!

if you don't mind spending the money look into Adobe Premiere Elements for editing. OBS is already one of your best bets be for screen capture

If you use xSplit with picarto you can set it to record your streams automatically

Then you can edit in Windows Movie Maker ^^

That's what I was doing originally but my files wouldn't work no matter what I did, I ended up getting camtasia studio 8 and it works a treat, I've done a few test recordings so hopefully it'll work when I edit them >v<

I recommend Camtasia Studio 8. I use it and it's great, and it's also very easy to use :)

I personally recommend camtasia 8, it allows you to record, and later edit the video there is a 30 day free trial, but after that there's a trick for using it forever.

I downloaded it last night and did a test record, it seems pretty straight forward!

What's the trick I must know o,o

In case you need some tutorials there are many! It allows you to
*Speed up
*Record
*Greenscreen
* animations
*add little text
*Transicions

That makes vids look pretty cool OwO

After your 30 day free trial

1.Look up "camtasia keys"
2.copy 1
3. Open camtasia
5.Click using key
4.you'll get a widget saying "name" "key".
5.On name out whatever, on key copy they key
6.Turn off wifi
7.Click ok on camtasia, after a "couldn't verify" thingy appears.
8. get back internet
ENJOY CAMTASIAAAA

Try Hypercam or Bandicam both of those are pretty good at screen capture. You can also turn off the option to record from a microphone and add your own music in a video editor (For which I just use WMM)

Oh that's cool, I'm trying out camtasia firstly and seeing how this goes :>
