problem repairing my computers operating system!

I need to know if it is possible to reinstall the OS without deleting the personal files. It only gives me an install now option, I think it will erase everything!
I have a 2007 dell vista computer, with all the original system disks.
Well thats it.

If you aren't sure you could use your friend's computer to make a backup of your data, by put it as a slave.

If I were you I would back up your personal files, save copies of them on an external hard drive or etc., before attempting to do something you're unsure of.

Boot from the Vista disk, enter the language you want on the install window and press next. Then on the second screen you can choose a repair install.

Then just follow the instructions... They're stright-forward

You see I was afraid that if I clicked next it would just start installing and not give me any choice:O
