Steam isn't responding!!!!

When i open steam, it freezes and I have to close it through Task Manager. I cant even get past the Connecting to account screen! Then it errors! Does anyone else have this problem and how do I fix it???

Have you defragged recently? Is that the only application that's giving you trouble?

No, I dont defrag, and yes, Steam is the only one that freezes.

Try emptying your cache and defragging. If you have to, uninstall and reinstall the program.

If i defrag, wont that basically delete all of the data on my drive?

Defragmentation doesn't really get rid of files. It changes the manner in which they are being stored.

No, its the actual Steam app that wont respond. My browser is fine.

Well then I don't know.

But looks like some other people had problems also. Maybe they will fix it.
