I want to install windows XP or 7 on my macbook pro. I want to know if there are any potential problems I might face. Also, I am thinking about installing Linux too. Will that out too much strain on the memory?
if you really have the hardware , yes. [link] ...actually Apple does everything they can to lock the hardware, upgrading anything voids your warranty, and from my experience as an IT/computer repairman, Apple's macbooks are likely... not designed for upgrading or being fixed. Apple forbids this and wants to be the only personnel who have the right to fix their machines. (yep, theirs.) 's why i encourage people to get a real computer first, they can install MacOS if they want, and regardless the brand of their PC/laptop, RAM will be RAM, they can replace the 3G/wifi module, get a better processor or HDD by simply removing 4 screws.
that's a bit the same deal with the software : drivers are a pain in the ass to get to work, and if they could, they'd totally restrict mac owners to user accounts without an access to the O.S. (which is the plan when the next generation of ARM-based Macs will run iOS.)
When I bought this laptop, I thought how bad could it be? I had used desktop earlier and thought it would be nice to have an apple laptop. There are certain things I love about it but I love to tinker and this is really restricting. The upgrades might be costly on a windows laptop too right? Maybe not as much as an apple but still not easy on the pocket?
