So, I've gotten myself Kubuntu 12.04 and installed GIMP 2.8. Thing works just as it would run on Windows, with one exception. GIMP over-rides ALL the settings for the stylus buttons. Instead of pressure-enabled left click, right click and middle mouse button click (which moves canvas around the screen, therefore critical), it feeds me pressure-enabled left click on the nib, ordinary left click on one and left click again on the other button, the only difference being that the move done while pressing this button is not permanent. After my fiddling with the contents of xorg.conf.d, the rest of the system detects buttons properly.
Any suggestions on how to make GIMP respect the rules that work for the rest of the system?
No, GIMP will generally just do whatever the hell it wants with little to no regard for the rest of the system. The trick is to force GIMP to just want the same things so that it seems to you like it makes sense. Start with the settings, then edit the config files. Then Google the problem.
But when it works, it's fucking random. After removing the driver (the one I've configured) from original location, everything seems to work as it should and I wonder where all the drivers are stored (except in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/ )...
