Computer not starting

I have some problems with my computer.
When I start it normally it won't go to the windows LIVE log in as normal. It remains black and nothing happens.
I can only use the computer with safety mode, which is quit old fashioned and can't play sound.

I really need help on this since I have an animation project going on and without the sound I won't be able to make finish the video.

Windows what?
Computer specifications?
What have you done to it in the past week?

Whatever is wrong with it, it is very probable that it's something specific you did.

Try reinstalling windows live?

That would be a problem since then I'd lose all data I have on the computer.
