I have an HP Deskjet F4480, I know HPs all-in-one's are infamous for a medley of problems, but I have yet to come across another person with this kind of problem. The problem is whatever I put in my scanner be it a photo, sketch or nothing at all,the machine scans but all I get is the same skritchy black page as if it hadn't registered anything at all under its hood. I already re-installed the program twice to no avail and the HP manual that came with it didn't offer any advice how to resolve this issue. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this or is it time for this machine to hit the bucket
Is the light bar in the scanner (the piece that actually scans the image) lighting up fully? You can check by doing a test scan and lifting the lid open to watch. If it's not completely lit up, then it has to be replaced or repaired.
It sounds like the scanner has been damaged in some way or is at the end of it's life, which either way means you need to replace parts or get a whole new scanner. Take it to a computer shop and ask them to check it for you. Otherwise, call HP's tech support and see what they say.
The light bar lights up fully. I have a suspicion that there is some kind of technical problem with the scanner. It's been over a year since I've taken it out to use it and in the three years I've had it, its only ever been used largely for printing. I'll see if I can look into this else it may be about time to retire this machine from its short career.
Try going into Control Panel->Programs->Uninstall a Program. Uninstall EVERYTHING related to HP and then try reinstalling it. I may or may not have stolen the CD however...
Hahaha, it's fine, better for a working scanner and printer than mine. It's funny and depressing because I hardly ever used it.And a lot of what was on that CD was programs to promote more HP products...
