Windows vista and Directx10?

hopeira9 Featured By Owner Dec 11, 2012  Hobbyist
I have just one quick simple question that i have yet to manage to strangle an answer for from google. Can a Windows Vista Intel Core2 Quad Q8200 support directx10 or even directx11?
If so, how can i tell for sure that i have upgraded to it, and i just have faulty programs that think i don't have it?

Windows Vista can run dx10. It can run dx11 if you install the Platform Update. It depends on your graphics card though. You'll also need fully updated drivers.

To check what version of direct-x you have:

Type "dxdiag" into run, run it, and the last line on the first page will tell you what version of direct-x you have. You can also see what graphics chip you have if you want to look up compatibility/drivers.
