Recently, I started up my Internet Explorer browser, and found that my MSN homepage had changed to something called "Starburn Search" by Starburn Software. I know I didn't install it and don't know where it came from. I definitely can't seem to get rid of it! I've looked up the search online, and what I've found says that it's a malware program. Supposedly, the program can be found in the list of installed programs on my computer, but I can't find it (I have a Windows 7 system). I've also run my antivirus program (Avast), and it can't find any malware on my computer. Is Starburn actually harmful, or simply annoying? Tips for getting rid of it? Will just using a different browser keep this search program from doing any possible damage? Thanks!
This type of redirect crap is getting really common. (It usually comes bundled with freeware programs and installs silently.) This is a good guide for getting rid of it: [link]
