So, in order to clear off the twat off the front page, I'd like to compare forum systems. :L

Devious Comments

I used to like the way Nick.com did its forums in terms of replies. It was nested, like dA's, but each comment had a subject line you'd have to click to read the comment. Although it was definitely tedious to have to click to read all the replies, it was convenient for things like fanfiction topics.

I really like how dA looks in terms of replies when comments are nested; it's very easy to follow conversations. Most regular forums, like Invision and ProBoards (are those all out of date? I don't forum much anymore), don't differentiate which comment you're replying to without using the "quotes" system, so it's nearly impossible to hold multiple conversations.

Not to mention, quotes tend to go pyramidic.

Ugh, seriously.

It ends up stretching out the post to where I don't even care about what was said initially, or I "have" to reread what was said several times.

And then there are those who simply pyramid for the lulz.

The forums have been neglected in the DA updates.

That being said...they seem to work and DA hasn't broken them yet, which is nice.

That is nice, but they lack certain features of modernity.

I wouldn't be against that addition. Although I guess it would make it easier for stupid fucks to use only sub text :grump:

I really want code syntax highlighting. It would have been useful exactly twice in these 7 years I've been on the forums :shakefist:
