When I had reset my avatar during a frustration of adding avatars, I wasn't exactly planning to see the default avatar go back. I figured it was no big deal and I'll add an avatar again. Problem is, that default avatar haunts all my past works that I haven't created afterwards/edited. Wondering if this has happened to anyone else and there's an easy fix to this? Here's a visual by what I mean: [link]
I sent in a problem ticket and it was sent to the technical staff, and so far no fix. I'm wondering about answers from a deviant's perspective in the meantime if it ever does get fixed.
That's an interesting issue... It seems that the origin of the issue is due to the fact that older posts memorize the file extension of your avatar, and try to use it again.
Basically : the older post try to load an image named "emilytheblonde.gif". it doesn't exist anymore, since it is now "emilytheblonde.png", and thus, display the "default avatar".
Now that you used a few time your new .png avatar, I guess that if you reverted back to a new .gif avatar, the old posts would have a correct avatar, and the new ones not.
How long ago did that happen? Sometimes they stick around (the old avatars in uneditted places) for a couple months. (because, as dA mentions, it may take awhile for have your avatar display itself throughout the site)
