Hello, I've been struggling for around 24 hrs with many errors (500 internal error, nothing found on wp-admin, forbidden, etc.) on my website www.greyismanga.com which is a wordpress website with comicpress plugin hosted on dreamhost.com I tried re-writing, deleting, edting .htaccess I tried through ftp deactivating all plugins I overwritten we-admin folders with same version wordpress files nothing changed. I wrote in the comicpress forums twice but nobody seems to be moderating the forums so the post won't show until someone approves it. ( I thought originally comicpress is the culprit) Then I contacted dreamhost which at first replied that they fixed the problem "was unresponsive due to all the memory being used" then contacted me that "your user is hitting the shared hosting memory limit. Unfortunately, it appears your site is outgrowing the shared hosting plan and I definitely recommend adding a VPS to support it. Your log files indicate a LOT of hits from several IPs... "
so they suggested moving to VPS as a solution then after sometime moved it themselves coz "The admins have found your user is causing high load and cpu issues on the seginus webserver. Currently, your ftp user is using around 18.76% of the entire CPU of the server in a given day."
and I still can't even log in to the website to actually use it!
It occurred to me check my other sites which are hosted on the same place, only the ones that have wordpress installed on them "www.greyismanga.com" and " www.deejuusan.com" are down (internal errors on my end and can't log in to them) "nameinstone.net" and other subdomains that hosted on different website (storenvy, tumblr,...) are working fine.
So, long story short;
both my websites that are hosted on dreamhost with wordpress installed are giving me errors and can't log in to wp-admin. any help or ideas?
I'm not sure if you've resolved this problem already or not. I've worked with countless wordpress based websites and while I haven't personally encountered any 500 internal errors you must know that such error is a general indication that something in your site (usually your theme or a new plugin) is broken. Switch to the default theme temporarily and deactivate all your plugins, see if you still get the error. If you do, then you must have mistakenly added or removed some lines in your core files. If it the site works okay then start reactivating your plugins one by one and see which plugin might cause a 500 error and if your plugins are cleared then continue with your theme and see if that one is at fault.
Clear your cache and revise your theme codes. If nothing works at all, a fresh install maybe in order. p.s.; I strongly recommend you install wordpress locally, do all your testing and customization on a local machine and once you are satisfied and sure everything is in perfect condition, you simply upload. I found this to be a great time saver and minimizes headaches as well.
it's a quote from [link] ..... I am going to post this everywhere that someone write about this so that you can try this solution out.
Make that if you have reinstalled wordpress, that you .htaccess file is correct. If you have wordpress installed on your main directory(you see wordpress content when you first enter the site) your .htaccess file should look similar to this:
"Just want to add that I had this 500 error, and I solved it deactivating all of my plugins, then deleted some I wasn't sure of and really needing. This solved the problem, for me."
my site is on wordpress too [link] but i haven't updated the latest build *_* maybe there's a virus or something on the host server that removes files based on their CHMOD data? if you have access to your site's root try to reinstall the 'admin' folder from a fresh wordpress installation (download the latest version from the website and upload just the admin folder) but if you don't have access to the website (via FTP) or if you have a free hosted wordpress site with a custom URL then maybe you need to contact tech support and tell them D:
