I know this is a very old topic, and I don't want to bring the whole war of "Mac vs PC" up, I'm just asking those who would know that in my situation, which would be better to look at?
I'm off to university, most likely (well, hopefully) taking a videogame graphics designer course (so, graphics and digital art will be very important). I also want to use my computer for actual videogames (as I love those), so it definitely needs to be compatible for that type of use (good quality graphics and videocard, etc..)
At first, I thought that it would be obvious that Mac would be the better choice, as what I'm looking for really does revolve around graphics (which I've heard Mac is better with). However, in terms of videogames, more videogames are available to PCs than Macs, as well as the issue of... if I have a Mac, then I would need to buy everything according to it (or so I've heard) - buying the mac printer, the mac mouse, etc...
So, in your opinion, which would be better? A Mac, or PC?
Stop there. PC. Argument solved. Can't beat a PC's range of vidya, and if you're doing any game coding the tools are much better on PC. The "macs are good with graphics design" thing is a terrible argument that only people who know little about graphics design use.
macs are only popular because the advertising worked. using them really will make you waste your time and money, while a real PC will deliver the performances you expect, and most important thing : compatibility between all kind of software.
personal prefrance. i'm a pc person. but i have used macs before in my graphic design. class to me i found them to be mostly just to have a more shiny and more sleek look compared to pc. plus battery life on laptops are much better then that of a mac. (that prob the only plus i can say about them). i gound macs to be very hard to multi task on. i like to have basically everything open while im working so social networks, whatever pages i need for a project the several programs im jumping between at the time and more all open. which caused the computer to lag more then im use to on pc (i was on a school computer tho sharing the same network with god know how many other people to be fair).
because i was pretty much raised on pc growing up through school im so much more used to them and their program (tho most programs do work on both). i could never get use to that god damn function button. and trust me in any design art course you going to be using it a lot. i alway went to hit ctrl because thats what it is on pc. i found to especially because i use microsoft programs and they didnt have those on mac that drove me nuts.
actually the only mac i was ever able to get use to is my ipod touch no not the iphone i will prob never get them but that a different matter all together
well that just my opinion no offense to the mac users out their. again it all comes down to personal preference and what your use to or think you can get use to
