I know this is a very old topic, and I don't want to bring the whole war of "Mac vs PC" up, I'm just asking those who would know that in my situation, which would be better to look at?
I'm off to university, most likely (well, hopefully) taking a videogame graphics designer course (so, graphics and digital art will be very important). I also want to use my computer for actual videogames (as I love those), so it definitely needs to be compatible for that type of use (good quality graphics and videocard, etc..)
At first, I thought that it would be obvious that Mac would be the better choice, as what I'm looking for really does revolve around graphics (which I've heard Mac is better with). However, in terms of videogames, more videogames are available to PCs than Macs, as well as the issue of... if I have a Mac, then I would need to buy everything according to it (or so I've heard) - buying the mac printer, the mac mouse, etc...
So, in your opinion, which would be better? A Mac, or PC?
There's no reason to even consider a Mac, I'll sum up why.
A Mac hardware wise has nothing different than a PC, it has an intel processor and a n-vidia video card and probably a toshiba/samsung/seagate HDD. So there's nothing to make it anything more special there at all. If you buy a Mac you're paying roughly 2-3 times the amount you would for a pre-built pc and a lot more than a PC you make yourself, this is cost you could spend elsewhere.
Program wise? No program is going to run any better on Mac or PC, the program is specific to how good your hardware is, and since it's been stated Mac guts are the same as PC.
If you simply like the MacOS you can actually put that on a PC, it's called a "hackentosh". So you can get all that makes a Mac on hardware that costs 10x less and does the same job.
A long time ago (90's) Macs had some better hardware, scuzzy HardDrives and very powerful Power PC processors, today they've got the same guts.
Best option? Make your own PC. Newegg.com is your friend here.
PC for sure ....... Mac does have a high security but it's performance is not that good (compared to it's price ) And you can a lot of programs on PC for designing ...
PC = Personal computer regardless of the OS (damn Apple and Microsoft for teaching people otherwise)
proper terms would be Mac PC or Windows PC, or even Linux PC
As for which you should pick I'd say go for the best you can get within your budget and that you like the best. I like to build my own and dual boot Windows & linux cause that fits my needs. If you get a Mac you can install and dual boot windows so just go with the one you want.
