On startup, it hangs at "reading preferences" and doesn't start anymore. I tried disabling the WIA service, but that didnt help. I reinstalled CS2.0, but that didnt work either...

Maybe the "preferences" file is broken or corrupt.
Did you just reinstall it or did you delete all Photoshop files in the directory, too?
It might be that reinstalling doens't overwrite the (broken) preferences file.

Well de uninstall program asked if I wanted to keep my preferences. I click "No". I'll try it anyway.

How long does it hang for? If you have a lot of plugins, it may take a good 5 minutes to load.

Otherwise, maybe there are some windows library files that photoshop is dependent on that were deleted from your hard drive?

I asked "The Google" (lol, [link])
and I found this:

I tried both ways and it still hangs on startup. Actually it just doesn't load at all. Once it gets to "reading preferences" for the second time, it stops doing anything.

I have exactly the same problem.
I don't know why... and what to do! :(

1) You can try to reinstall .NET 2.0 (go on Microsoft.com)
2) Or immediatly after clicking on Photoshop to open it, hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift and choose "Yes".

I've done all these steps but it still doesn't work...
I dunno why, it's so annoying !

Something other:

3) Rename your "Plug-Ins" folder as "~Plug-Ins".
Photoshop won't load it, so we can see if there's too much plug-ins.

Nothing happens with me. :(
