Please don't take this as rude. I love all the artwork everyone is posting, but I did somewhat create this thread to have a little critique thrown my way to, so please, If I critique/comment on your artwork, please give me critique back! I would really appreciate it!
"Classic Equivalent Exchange" as Greed says. XP
P.S. Here is my latest artwork. Going to be posting a fullbody character hopefully either today or tmrw.
-A marker drawing depicting two of my characters, Elektro the electric chipmunk and Emily the badger, cosplaying as Buzz and Kaffy respectively from Sugar and Coffee, a sketch from the Relaunch Era of Nickelodeon's All That. -Another marker drawing, but this one depicts of Splendid from Happy Tree Friends as he would appear if he wears a full-fledged superhero costume.
Haha! I needed a good laugh today! In a good way! XD This is pretty dark awesome! The artwork is nice and neat, and the portrayl is pretty close to exact (I've seen like 2 minutes worth of happy tree friends, and this guy happened to be in it. XP) Very nice work! Keep practicing! I would suggest starting to look into ways to blend everything! It make it look 10x better, believe me! ^_^
I love the sort of fingerprint effect on the first one! It looks very... trying to find the word for it... classic but creative, I guess you could say! XD And the second one is just straight up beautiful! I feel like it's a place you usually only find in a dream. This is my fantasy geek persona kicking in, but it feels like the jungle/forest on the other side is like a place where monsters and such reside, and there's a peaceful, safe community on the other side of the river. It looks like it came straight from a book! XD
Both of them are excellent! Not really any major criticism! ^_^
Some more definition to the hair would help take advantage of the haircut; there needs to be at least some lines for it in the middle. His ears are a bit too high on the face; they need to be lowered. Considering the style you're using is anime/manga, some more detail in the eyes would also help. Overall, its a good start to a decent concept; just keep working on it, and pay attention to anatomy. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a note.
It's technically the fact that he's looking down is why the ears are so high. Lol. But I didn't really support that with any of my detail so You're right. XP And face shading is hard for me to do without making it look like the character has a birthmark. Lol.
Well the reason it was just a floating head was because I was just trying to get a detailed idea of the eyes and hair. But I will keep that in mind in the future! ^_^
I really like it! It reminds of a "Snow White and the Huntsman" kind of flare, like giving a Disney fairy tale a fantasy twist, if you get my drift. The anatomy is pretty dead on. The face is a little bit squished in imo, but that's just me. Someone else might tell you different. Personally I would just leave a circle environment there, but once again that's personal preference. Overall, looks EXCELLENT!!! ^_^
