Deviousness |
I am the founder of Daily Poet [link] and I have to admit I have little experience with groups. I've run into a conundrum recently of having huge ambition, but little time.
A little about Daily Poet:
The group is about people writing a poem a day. Right now it's evolving towards doing contests and a weekly journal along with the turnout of poems that are not submitted to 20+ groups and receive no reviews.
Goals
Right now I would love to get everyone at least one review. For me this is impossible because as I am only one person, I cannot unbiasedly review my own work. Also, I am quickly running out of time.
I would like to successfully complete the first prompt contest which is roughly outlined in the 'first' weekly journal (second time I tried this) and I need a judge, but I want to participate myself to make sure at least one person participates, if not two.
Main responsibilities for staff
Weekly Newsletter:
I want someone to take this over and make sure it is up to par with good comments about the best poem of the week as well as an unbiased party taking in the suggested poems and judging them fairly for the best one. The only other thing that really needs to be in it, is news about what's going on, or going to go on such as prompt contest updates. Also we have several affiliates who could use some publicity in our guild or our guild publicizes in theirs.
Reviewers:
I need several staff to help review the poems coming in. Right now we are down to about 4-10 per day.
Publicity:
I'd like to get the daily submissions up once I have reviewers for the daily submissions we have.
In the meantime the person taking up the responsibility can help keep up with our affiliates and general management, like making sure reviewers' poems are reviewed.
Judge:
Simply put, I need a judge for the weekly prompt contest.
Control
Right now people who are in the contributors receive minimal control. I can easily change that as I would love the guild to run itself without me (as I typically vanish without meaning to due to time constrains). I know this is a laughable idea considering I am the founder, but as compensation for all the reviewing and work the new staff will need to put in, I am willing to do whatever I can to help them out as well as up their control to whatever they want.
