Well, this is highly frustrating. I downloaded and installed the PCLinuxOS 2007 files off the official site, and am happily using Linux. I choose the install wizard from the guest desktop so I can finally get away from windows, and follow the instructions to partition my hard drive. It warns me that all data will be wipe, and i say next, quite happily
From there, after reading the help file on the desktop, it should go to a screen that says "press Next to install or Cancel to quit". However, it says "reboot and select "use existing partitions"". So, I reboot the computer, choose the linux command, and I get an error
[then this bit is in a box] find /unetbtin/menu.lst find /menu.lst find /boot/grub/menu.lst find /grub/menu.lst commandline reboot halt [end box]
Use the [up arrow] and [down arrow] keys to highlight an entry. Press ENTER or 'b' to boot. Press 'e' to edit the commends before booting, or 'c' for a command-line."
What the hell do I do? I've tried all of the things, but each one has resulted in me rebooting.
OK so wait... do you actually have an installed Linux system?

I would do that, but since I last posted, my WinXP has been asking me to laod in safe mode and such, then not getting past the "Windows is Loading" screen... So I'm really not sure of what to do. The only thing I can do, it seems, is use the command line in Linux mode.
Hmm, you might want to try a complete reinstall and see what happens. Sometimes odd problems are encountered during install. In this case it sounds like it didn't install the bootloader correctly.

Would I be able to do this without the liveCD though? Because if i need the disc, it;s going to take me a while to get it, and I need a computer for my schoolwork...
Well...yes...you do kindof need a CD with an operating system on it to install the operating system... doesn't necessarily have to be a live cd but you still need the OS CD...

"find --set-root --ignore-floppies /menu.lst

so i press any key.
I get another screen:
