Okay, hopefully an expert is floating past and can give some miracle help to me. I have always used a Mac, but I made a huge boo boo...

Is there any way to get items out of the "Trash" after they have been deleted..? I know it's a long shot, but due to a change of machine, my main machine is quite old, running on Tiger.

My new laptop which was a 21st birthday present, runs on the newest OS (Leopard?). That is not a problem... Then I transferred my fave tunes to the laptop via firewire - no problem there.

The thing is... I realised that iTunes still ran the files (Leopard OS) that were 'copied' onto iTunes after I deleted them from the "music" folder they came from... so I figured "Hey, I can save some space on my old machine by deleting the origional music files and just have iTunes... Rather than having my music clogging up the place."

Actually, I just thought of how it all went wrong... Damn... It wasn't the official "music" directory - it was a folder I made... Sh*t...

So now I wonder... Is there any way to get them back, or shall I start up my p2p and... well...

Help !!!

You never specified, so if you haven't emptied the trash, you can just click on its icon and take the items out.

Otherwise, I doubt it. You might be able to 'undelete' them with a program like [link]=product_info&;products_id=1 but they only work if you've deleted the files recently (and the bigger the files, the more recent it'd need to be)

If you still have a copy of that folder on one of the machines then just copy it again. Otherwise you're screwed, but at least you might still have the iTunes library to show you which songs you lost.

Hmm...I don't know how you could undelete them, but do you maybe have your tunes on an iPod?

Heh,

i giggled uncontrollably when i read this.

I did the exact same thing after moving all my music to the backup on my old powermac g4 i upgraded.

(it had a firewire 400 port, so the transfer took quite a while)

i was rather pissed as im sure you were

if im not reading incorrectly, you do have the music on your old computer, correct?

why not just transfer again

Ah, I must've made an error in my original statement... I deleted my music off th old one... but I still use it because I've got my sound-system hooked up to it...

The main problem was, I had created a few personal tunes on GarageBand... Didn't transfer those, and some tunes I liked but due to being autonomous and ';perfectionist' - unless there were at least 3-4 by the same artist I didn't transfer them.

My library is gone !!! :raincloud: :slap: :explosion:

True... I was thinking about that... Do you know how to get them back off..? I have heard of 'iPod extraction' software... but it seems to legendary to be true...

Thank you for the idea. You have contributed to my library's rebuilding...
