Heh. Sounds like you should've been given an iPod touch instead. With the contract, monthly service, that's an expensive iPod Touch.

..and then I see the 'no contract' part of your post... d'oh.

I have one, and I use it every day - calls, texts, emails and so forth. I'm actually very happy with it - the only slight downer is the lack of comprehensive EDGE coverage in the UK.

Got mine like a month before christmas and have been using it ever since. Calls, SMS, emails and music. Only thing I miss is having an possibility to record movies with the camera.
Got mine for my birthday (Feb) after the 16gb version was released. I use it for work every day. SMS, Emails, Calls... and of course iPod while I am driving or in a store and don't want sales associated bothering me.
I picked mine up as soon as the modders got to work at it. Its a love hate relationship. love the convenience of only having one device rather than phone and mp3. hate that i cant send/receive pictures. love the touch screen and how no other can compare. hate that it goes into airplane mode when i want to FM transmit or dock onto loud speakers. love/hate that i had to hack it, mod it and spend more money for me to get everything i can get out of it. oh edge blows.... i guess i hate it more than love it...
I got mine for xmas, and still rarley use it as a mobile due to it being heavy, but is good for ipod / wi-fi.
Mine is unlocked so no contract
