Since I upgraded to Leopard Adium tells me it can't connect to the MSN server. I've tryed downloading other Messengers and they work ok, but aren't anything like as stable or easy to use as Adium.

If anyone has experienced similar problems please let me know.

Could be your Firewall? Go into Security in System Prefs, and choose the Firewall tab and add Adium to the list (if you want to keep it on). I've switched mine off because I'm behind a hardware Firewall all the time...

I'll try that - I don't think that is the problem because Adium work fine with GoogleChat.

Thanks anyway. I'll let you know if it works.

If it's just MSN that's acting up, it could be the MSN servers - MS is always updating the protocol to try and stop 3rd party apps from connecting (meaning that developers have to reverse engineer the NEW protocol to get it to work, etc) or it could be that MSN is just flaking out, period.

My adium was acting up .... if I finally got to log on, the buddy screen would just be blank ... wouldnt show any friends ... and it wouldnt let me do anything.

Had to sub it with Mac Messenger for now.

MSN works on aMSN and Mercury messenger (I hate the interface on them so I got rid of them), so I'm back on Microsoft Messenger.

Which I don't like...

Hello.
Sorry to butt in but does Adium support GoogleTalk?
I haven't heard of it before and wasn't sure how to get GoogleTalk on a mac.
do you know any sites that tell me how to set it up?
Currently I'm using Mercury but I'm going to switch to Adium soon.
Thanks.

Adium does support GoogleTalk and is extremely easy to set up.

In fact it's one of the best messengers around for Mac. Which is why I'm so annoyed about not being able to use it.

If you want GoogleTalk though, you can set it up in iChat, I believe.

Bummer, well I'm definitely going to try it out soon.
And I've tried to configure iChat for GoogleTalk but I don't think it worked because we only have dial up internet.
Thanks. :)
