It has come to my attention that more than half of the job offers posted in this forum are fake. By fake I mean that you will submit your work and never hear from that person again. You won't get paid or receive any kind of compensation. There are genuine offers but they are so slim that you have to be very careful. The 3 main signs of a fake are jobs posted from an empty deviantART account, offers that seem too good to be true and mentions of a company or organization that does not exist. Before taking your time to fill an order, make sure you directly contact the person, research any facts or names mentioned and make out a contract. Contacts are key to any transaction where profit or commercial work is a factor. Trust me, I know better than anyone.

are there any specific ones that you know of that are doing this at the moment? rather than name names, you could note me on that :)

Too many to mention. They're not worth keeping track of. Their numbers are growing too fast. They're like a virus.

:O... wow! didn't think it was that bad. i saw the empty account ones (other than the one or two forum posts). but, do you think it's possible that they started an account here just to go straight to an art source?

Yeah your right! Fake Offers are growing in numbers! So before you submit your work just make sure that is watermark. Dont submit the originals!! Please! hehe! Payment first before delivering the original designs.

and also question about there identity like location and other info about them. Dont afraid to ask question about the client identity!

It's mainly possible that they started an account and left it empty so it'll be harder for people to find out who they are and how to get what they are owed.

Watermarks don't offer much protection either anymore. Anyone with moderate Photoship skill can coverup watermarks.

but that's yet another thing. in order to get the submissions, they have to leave some kind of contact information, don't they? so they're not completely hidden if they leave an email.

That's exactly why with any freelance job I do, the client only sees small thumbnails of the work so they can make sure the full-size file is close enough to what they wanted until my fees are completely paid for. A lot of people think I'm paranoid, but I just think I'm doing my best to be smart and not be taken advantage of.

An e-mail does not have to lead to any real information. Take Hotmail for example. When you add your personal information it can be easily faked. There are no verifications before opening an e-mail account.

but the point is that there is a way to get a hold of them. if they're making false claims of employment opportunites, their threads can be locked and they can be found through their IP addresses.
