$100 PRIZE!!!!!! (ART CONTEST) JAYCEN WISE: HERO AT LARGE

[x]
~JaycenWise:iconJaycenWise: Jun 9, 2005, 5:21:47 AM
The premice is really quite simple.......

I am looking for a dynamic and innovative artistic interpretation of my main-man and franchise character JAYCEN WISE: HERO AT LARGE, with the intent being to use the selected image for packaging purposes and promotions for my upcoming personal line of JAYCEN WISE 12" fully articulated, fully-poseable, custom action figures.

The GRAND PRIZE is $100.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There will only be ONE WINNER guaranteed, but I envision having so many tight pieces to choose from that I end up shelling out alot more doe than I can afford to purchase outstanding pieces from those not selected as the grand prize winner.

Medium is up to you. (All I ask is that the piece be in full color, and representative of the VERY BEST work that this forum has to offer.)

The size is 5"w x 11"h....... might seem a bit awkward but I need the piece to be relatively proportionate with a package for a 12" action figure.

The piece should be action-packed but nothing too violent as to scare off mothers of young children. (Let's put a PG-13 rating on this project.)

For anyone not familiar with the general gist of JAYCEN WISE: HERO AT LARGE (which is probably everyone who will read this post) check out these web adresses. (Should provide you with enough general info to get your creative juices flowin'.)

An important note is that Jaycen Wise is an IMMORTAL, a warrior, a scholar, and an adventurer (think HIGHLANDER + GOLGO 13 + INDIANA JONES + JAMES BOND + SHAFT)

(But you can get the jump on it now if you wish.)

(Please e-mail all submissions to JAYCENWISE@yahoo.com)

can describe the pakaging a little better? Does it have a can you see the action figure through it or is it just a 5"X11" box with no window?
~JaycenWise:iconJaycenWise: Jun 9, 2005, 6:31:14 AM
I haven't even gotten that far yet.

As long as the piece is 5"w x 11"h I will make it work as far as the package is concerned.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

What kind of enviroment would he be in? Jungle, city, etc? What kind of people/creatures would he be fighting? Can you describe his personality? Is costume design up to us?
~Green-Tara:iconGreen-Tara: Jun 9, 2005, 11:06:42 AM
Oh, and may we submit more than one entry? And will we be credited on the package or anything for the artwork?

To answer your question in the order asked.....................

1. The environment that he is in is COMPLETELY up to you. Remember Jaycen is an immortal who has experienced life in virtually all climates, on all continents, and in countless cultures throughout time...... most outstanding being the Ancient African civilization of Kemet (Egypt) and Kush (Nubia.) I would LOVE to see a bit of the ancient and contemporary, but it's really up to you.

2. As far as creatures and/ or enemies........ use your imagination! I trust in the abilities of you wonderful artists to conjur up something fantastic! (But remeber the aim is to try and keep the project at a PG-13 rating....... so don't make villains or creatures that'll frighten the young ones...... too much at least.) And remember, Jaycen is a scientist and a scholar as well as a feared warrior, so he doesn't have to be fighting. (Perhaps exploring, or something like that.) The sky's the limit!

3. With regards to his personality and background info...................

Jaycen Wise is an immortal (demi-God) who is charged with the responsibility of fighting for the preservation of knowledge and light. He is a battle hardened (unrivaled) warrior extraordinaire who has witnessed so much bloodsheed and carnage in his countless years of existence that he is solemn and detatched from the world around him, causing him to wander from place to place, continent to continent in attempt to escape the demons of his extensive past, while battling the forces of darkness.

He is an avid student and teacher and seeks always to better himself physically, mentally and spiritually, as well as enlighten those worthy individuals who cross his path.

He has seen so much in his lifetime and has collected so many experiences and pearls of wisdom that he has a hard time dealing with the decadence of "modern" society, which pales in comparison to the societies of the early ages he recalls.

He is a dreamer, a scientist, and a visionary, and lives for the day when things will return to the GOLDEN AGES (when men and women and animals lived in utter peace and harmony) which are his earliest memories.

He is extremely confident in his abilities (borderlining on arrogance) and he believes that he can accomplish anything that he set his mind to (which is absolutely true.)

[*A side note............ Jaycen also has 2 battle lions who serve as his companions at times. (A male and a female.) They don't have to be included in the piece, but if you want to throw them in that would be awesome too.]

4. The costume design is up to you as well, but the pictures and drawings posted on my deviantART gallery should serve as guidelines. I was thinking some type of military battle gear, but once again it's really up to you. (I would like you to stay as true to the facial features of the actual action figure as possible.)

5. You can submit as many pieces as you desire. Knock yourself out! (The more submissions the greater your chances of winning the $100.)

6. You will MOST DEFINITELY be given credit for your artwork if selected as the contest winner. I can put your name on the box, as well as your deviant gallery address if you so desire.

GOOD LUCK!

And don't hesitate to hit me up with any further questions, no matter how insignificant you may think it is.

HOTEP!

<>So you expect full concept sketches for $100, to be used for a
large-scale commercial project? That's low.

-You'll need a front, profile and back drawing. Do you expect a
fully rendered, fully colored set of drawings or just basic
conceptual sketches?
~JaycenWise:iconJaycenWise: Jun 10, 2005, 3:40:44 AM
Hahaha haaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (ROFL)

(Pardon my amusement)............. but this is NOWHERE EVEN CLOSE TO A "LARGE SCALE COMMERCIAL PROJECT." (Exactly the opposite quite truthfully.)

I am one guy with eight 12" prototype action figures and a dream.

Perhaps in 5 years or so, if I play my cards right I will be able to call this a big time business venture........ but as for right now I am just struggling trying to put together my overall concept and take my prototypes around to conventions and the like to try to drum up interest in this project and possible investors.

I am nowhere near being able to mass produce or even advertise on a large scale........ not yet..... I don't command that type of budget. I just need a talented artist to create a dynamic 5"x11" rendering of my character that I can use for prototype packaging for my prototype figures. (All 8 of them.)

I'm sorry if you've mistaken me for a MATTEL or a TYCO type enterprise, but I guess it's kind of flattering (in a way.)..... I think.

I am a starving artist just like most of the folks on this board.

I have $100.00 to give to the artist who best depicts Jaycen Wise.

I'm not trying to EXPLOIT anybody here............. I'm just in need of a talented artist to help push this project along.

<>Haha, you're welcome.

-Wasn't trying to divert the wind from your sails or anything. I did mistake your buisness status for a higher one, though. In this case, your offer ain't so bad after all. All you want is a guy to slap down sketches for a visual to be developed and polished later, you having little drawing ability yourself. The plight of all fantasy writers. If I had time, I'd scribble out something, being that I like the char you've built, this Jaycen Wise. Your ideas are cool. Good luck with it.
