The visual novel itself is a modern fantasy, psychological whosawhatsit focused on its characters and allowing the player to shape the story in accordance to the player's choices. Despite the medium, the game isn't a romance, and is intended to be a little more western in its feel. More information, as well as a download of the demo, can be found here: [link]
For those of you unfamiliar with visual novels, they're basically electronic Choose Your Own Adventure novels with pictures and sound. The characters show up on screen as portraits, and they have several different expressions to go along with the text.
When it comes to backgrounds and applying, here are the details:
- I'm looking at needing somewhere around 20 backgrounds for the final product. I will pay you as each background is sent to me.
- I'm going to be setting up a Kickstarter to help pay for this, so I'm currently trying to get a good idea of what kind of money people are looking for. I can't pay you immediately, but I won't ask you to draw anything for me until I can.
- Artistic style should ideally be on the darker side. The rest of the game is sitting on the brink semi-realism, so the look of the backgrounds should probably reflect that. You should also be able to draw some things on the surrealistic side.
- When posting here or messaging me, please provide some relevant sample works, as well the sort of price you'd like to be paid.
