Looking for an Art instructor: drawing, comics, manga.

:iconigorbkr:
I am looking for an art instructor for myself and possibly for my daughter (14).
Seattle (WA, USA) area.
Current interest: comics, manga. Drawing, inking, character development, page design etc.
Published author is a plus. Private or/and group instructions.

I am trying to get back into drawing after 30 years break :).

Also, if you know where I can get this kind of training, please, let me know.

I hope I am posting this into the right forum – if not, please, tell me.

Take classes at a local college or university.

Thank you! I was looking through local colleges offerings, and was kind of lost…
Could you suggest what classes I would be looking for given the current interest in illustration, comicing etc.

I go to an art university and I know that there are certain studio classes that pretty much everyone can sign up for, such as foundation drawing, drawing for illustration, printmaking etc. In order to take higher, 200 and 300 level courses, you need the prerequisites (like the foundation drawing courses). At my school, we do have a specific comic illustration class, but you need to have taken prior illustration classes in order to move on into this class, because you need to have that basic drawing knowledge in order for the class to flow quicker.

My best suggestion for you would be to schedule an appointment with an adviser at the local college and see what your options are.

Also, I would suggest taking classes that state they are geared toward illustration. At my school, we have drawing and we have illustration. Drawing is more about pursuing your own "vision" so to speak, and it doesn't focus much on the fundamentals like anatomy, perspective, rendering etc. in the same way that illustration does. Illustration is learning how to draw anything for any particular client, rather than exploring your emotions or whatever.
