What I'm looking for: An artist who can start with nothing but script and direction and produce high resolution files that are more or less ready to be sent to the printer.
About the project: This is a one-time, one book project that will work almost like a short, sporadic serial in terms of production as it's an anthology I'm piecing together story by story.
There are philosophical, religious, and sociopolitical undertones to some of the stories, although the book in general isn't representative of any particular ideology. The ideal candidate for this job probably enjoys thinking about this type of stuff and has a reasonably open mind.
There's a childlike quality to these stories—they almost have a “children's stories for adults” vibe.
The number one thing I need (after talent) is flexibility. First and foremost, this means that I need someone can deal with a significant amount of open-endedness in terms of time frame. Some of these stories are basically ready to be worked on now, some are partly written, and some have yet to be started. This “job” is only for the first story, but my wish is to find someone who will ultimately illustrate the entire book. If all goes well with the first story, you will be offered the next, and so on. There may be a “break” of unspecific length between any two stories, and the ideal candidate for this job is adaptable to that. Of course, I'm equally willing to work around your schedule. There will be VERY little by way of absolute deadlines with this project.
That said, I would like to have at least three or four stories completed over the next six months or so.
This is a self-financed, self-published project, so I can't afford to pay much, but I have about $1,000 to spend on it at the time and I'd like to get as far into the book as possible with it. I'm 100% committed to supporting this project and I will do whatever I can to keep my illustrator happy. The more things are "clicking" the more money I'm willing to throw at this thing. For the right artist (talented, smart, laid back, committed, maybe just slightly twisted) this could be a really fun and interesting job.
Willing to work out compensation/contract with the artist. I will only consider artists that I can "verify" or who have done work for other deviantart members.
This is a really interesting project. The only concern I have is time scale as I'm a university student and I'll be going back in september. Either way, please take a look in my gallery and see what you think. Thankyou.
I'm interested... Please feel free to visit the comic book section of my gallery at [link] so you can see some of my work... Thank you, in advance, for your time...
