Disclaimer: I'm not a computer technician. I'm simply sharing a trick I discovered. Use this info at your own risk. (I recommend setting a restore point before attempting this.)
As I mentioned in my journal, I now have an upgraded PC and am getting used to Vista for the first time. Everything seemed to work great, except my tablet, which is an Intuos 2 (4" x 5"). After lots of frustration and searching I have gotten it to work. I thought I'd share what I did in case it'd save someone else some headache.
First of all, grab the updated drivers for XP and Vista here: [link]roduct=XD Second, grab also the OLD drivers for XP here: [link]roduct=XD
The reason for this is the new drivers for XP and Vista are lacking the pen driver, which you can get from the old install.
Install the NEW drivers and UNZIP the old drivers to a FOLDER. Put this folder somewhere you can find it but don't mind it staying forever. I just put it on C.
Now go to Start->Control Panel->Device Manager->Human Interface Devices and look for Wacom. There should be about 3 entries. Right click each one and check properties. One of them might say that there are no drivers installed. For that one, have the computer look in the OLD DRIVERS folder you just unzipped. It should find what it needs.
My Intuos 2 is on a serial port which happens to be on COM3. (Device Manager-> Ports) I also had to go into the registry and change the reference to match. Start->type "regedit" in the search box. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->TABLET, then on the right there is an entry that reads "PnPTablets REG_SZ ,COM1" Right-click this entry and choose Modify, then edit the number after COM to match the port your tablet is hooked to.
I hope this info helps someone.
Does anyone know how to get around those licky face smilies that are messing up the url's?
