The summer turns rooms at night headache hot, and in the day the air, it melts above the roads and in the view across the town. There is some relief to be had from newly opened windows, from air conditioning, from dunks in mains-cold water. My friend says it was pissing down in Swanage, but the soft grey line of cloud to the South is a whole season away from the heatsunk blue daytime of here.
Impatient drivers don't last long in Poole, as the guy who leapt out of his steaming car to beat up the old fogey dallying in front of him testified, before he was sent down. I saw that from my window, while I was studying how yellow the broad leaves of trees look in the sun, and how it had burned the grass to dirty blond. I miss the rain and cold of advent.

So, but, what is the weather like where you live?

a conceivable interpretation, yes

It's just after rain, which means the sun is up, the roads shine, and there's a light breeze. It will rain again.
