We all know how hard it can be to find affordable costumes. Thrift stores are hit-and-miss, and eBay is often a bust for a lot of reasons.
So where do you go to find affordable costumes of reasonable quality for stock?
P.S. I'm considering compiling a list of affordable costume resources for stockers in the near future and the responses on this thread will likely be used for reference.
Everything in your closet, and your friends closet... and your mothers closet... and her mothers closet.... Borrow, promise to return in same condition, and you'll be surprised how many people in your family will loan you items of clothing you didn't even know existed
I would have "borrowed" my mothers wedding dress by now but unfortunately I'm not a stick insect like she was at my age
lol and yes... sheets are made of win!

Would you like some cheese to go with that whine Madam?
This is very true. I just wish my family members were anywhere near my size. Unfortunately, I'm the pixie of the family, being 4'11" tall with a rather small frame.
They're all average size at about 5'6" with medium builds.
Clothes pegs and pins, do back shots and gather at the front and front shots by gathering at the back, I guess all it takes is a bit of ingenuity Pins are your friend

I borrow a lot of odd things from friends. Because, yes, my friends have cloaks and poofy white skirts laying about. I do hit up thrift stores too. Oh! And old dresses from proms and stuff.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
