Hello, everyone. I originally posted this in the wrong forum (sorry about that, I feel stupid..lol). I have a question for you all: Ok, so I made a set of photoshop brushes a couple of years ago, and they have turned out to be quite popular, here. I love making photoshop brushes, but I haven't made a set since. Why? Because I don't know what type of brushes I should make! I would like to know what sorts of brushes people would like to see. I can create pretty much anything, I just don't know WHAT to make. It seems like everything has already been covered... or am I missing something? Should I just go ahead and make "my" version of a particular brush set, even though they might already be available? Or... are there any type of brushes that you wish existed, but do not? I made a journal post on my profile, similar to this, asking for help... but no one has replied thus far. So, I decided to try here. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Help me to help you! Thanks in advance!

Because everything has already been done doesn't mean you cannot do it again
Swirls seems to be very popular, and so are vector shapes. The best thing to 'brushify' are tiny elements that artist do not feel like cutting out since they won't be in focus in manips: ropes, chains, hair, tiny plants, bird shapes, insect shapes, etc... Basically, anything that is tiny but useful
More abstract brushes are also pretty popular: anything esoteric works fine on dA Zodiac signs, constellations, cryptic seals and pagan imagery, clocks, etc...
Please also be aware that base images for your brushes from must be of your own creation.Unless you have specific written permission from the copyright holder of the original works. You can read a little more about this in one of my articles ( at the bottom of the page) . [link]
Also try to remeber not to make them too small,as many artists like to go on to make prints so work with large resolutions.Giving the artist the option of making the brush smaller in photoshop rather than having a brush that is too small to work with, is a plus.
As far as brushes go,most are popular,I would suggest just being creative.

Try creating your own style, this way you can produce anything and it should work. Post them and I'm positive that you will have people downloading them to use. This is my style, all made with my own photos Smoko-Stock’s.... Brushes
There is nothing wrong with doing YOUR OWN version of a brush! And only because almost everything already exist, doesn't mean that they are all can be used by everybody. Some might be the set they look for, but the brushes are not quite what they need, you understand? And like Smoko-Stock said, do your own style ...
I've found that 'vintage' brushes are pretty popular. I know that for some of my own work I like swirls and flowers - however I can't make vectors (I have NO idea how to do those lovely types of brushes) so I stick to making brushes from books that I have that are in the public domain.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
