Well, 2008 has been for me the *real* entry into the broader resource world, since I restricted myself strictly to stock photography before that. I started making my own texture, and having a DD on one of those was a big shock, and surely the most intense moment of my resource year I loved getting to know the strange people in the #Resource chatroom too. And the Halloween event was made of pure win!
Something you have learnt... tell me! Emoticon stress balls available now!
A project you have been involved in involving Resources... tell me! dA stockers A-Z: See my signature for links.
Joining the deviantART Resources community, how did it feel are you happy etc, tell me! I'm very happy. Every time someone uses my resources it makes me feel good. I know this is the cliché response to this question, but it's true. I don't know any other reason to provide resources other than the good feeling from seeing it used. dA resource providers are some of the nicest people I've ever met, so it also feels nice to feel like a part of that.
You might have been featured, how did that feel... tell me! I like being featured, and I appreciate it every time someone includes one of my resources in a feature. It's a compliment. I also like featuring other people's resources in my journal and sometimes in the news. I think it's fun to try to find relatively undescovered treasures.
It's in this year when I've been playing around with textures and pre-made actions done by someone else (I submitted one of mine long ago), also the very first times I've downloaded resources from here, as brushes, because I was a little purist when it came to use that stuff in my photography, and all I can say it's that I've been having much fun, learning a lot, and I've seen what an amazing quality you can find in dA for resources.
Some of my beloved resources used have been 10 Very Big Brushes No.39 by *mutsie (who has great brushes) [link] music dj-brushes "cledoni" by ~cledoni[link] PS Actions - PhotoEnhancements by `manicho[link] Grunge v by ~struckdumb[link]
-- It's like some other song, pretty but something's always wrong.
Don't know if this is worthwhile, but I did have a sort of epiphany while visiting MouritsaDA-Stock earlier this year.
It was only after visiting MouritsaDA's dA page that the following really hit home: It's very, very useful to know the size of a brush right from the start (posted right on the preview). This is actually a vital piece of information. Many times brushes turn out to be useful only for icon work because they're so small. This is something I wish could figure out before taking time to download, unzip and catagorize the various brushes.
Anyway, I celebrated finding a resource artist who took time to post the size of her brushes right on the preview! It was a beautiful thing! I could figure out if I would be able to use the brushes before I took time to download!
I know, it seems like such a basic idea, but it made a world of difference to me. Now, my own brush previews always include brush size.
