Hi guys, I need help. I have been out of the loop with the latest on Flash that even this (see [link]) I can't do. A client of mine wants to do something similar. How do I create the blur effect and then the sharp effect when the image is within the bounding box??

two possible options spring to mind here.

the first is the much simpler method. have 2 image strips, one of which is blured (photoshooping would suffice) and one is not, the unblured image is placed above the blured image and then masked so it only shows in the bounding box section.

The second more complex idea would be to draw the image onto a bitmapData object and then blur out segments each side of the bounding box, but even this i only can guess on, ive never attempted it myself.

Created a FLA file for the effect here. Just using the Blur filter along with a mask as =FlameReaper suggested doesn't take long at all :D
