I'm trying to put a motion tween into my Flash movie. I made the start image, put keyframes, then I put a blank keyframe and I drew what I wanted the original image to look like. I then selected all of the frames and inserted a motion tween. However, it doesn't work. The image stays the same and then on the last frame pops to the second image. I don't know what I did wrong. Hopefully someone here does.

Are you sure that the image on the last frame is the same symbol you created in the first frame? (start image= symbol, right?) If it isn't, it won't motion tween. You could also try a shape tween if the motion tween doesn't work, but all the images involved can't be symbols and the shape tween can do some really funky things, especially if the image if colored, complex lineart.
SOUNDS MORE 2 ME LIKE U R TRYIN 2 MAKE A 'SHAPE TWEEN'
IN THAT CASE,
-SELECT THE IMAGE ON 1ST FRAME, CTRL+b (BREAKAPART)
-SELECT THE IMAGE ON UR LAST FRAME, CTRL+b
-SELECT ANY FRAME BETWEEN THE 1ST AND LAST, IN THE PROPERTIES PANEL, SELECT 'SHAPE' FOR Tween
When working with shape tweening its important to know the pass points that shape tweening relies on. If you dont know those then dont use shape tweening, or all your stuff will come out morphed up, and morhping is newbish. So dont morph. Use Motion tweening, its very simple.
Create a key frame, add a line, make it a symbol. create a key frame 5 frames away on the same layer. Not on the 2nd key frame move it over a little bit, now in between the 2 key frames right click any blank key frame and select add motion tween. WAM!!! your line will move in a tween.
Some things to remember about motion tweening is that you can only move symbols and add effect to symbols in motion tween, you may not distort or reshape a shape. To reshape a shape you will need to use shape tweening. Shape tweening is mainly used to add bends to body parts or bends to objects. Dont think that you can draw a face looking left and a face looking forward and then add a shape tween and expect the face to turn towards you, thats now how shape tweening works. Shape tweening will allow any point on a object to move and be tweened in a fluid motion as long as that point does not cross another point on that particular object.
So lets say you have a person that walks and then bends over. well the walking and bending over would all be done with motion tweening, you would only use the shape tween to slightly bend the body parts on the image, such as making the back arch a little as the charcter bends over.
When using shape tweening in fluid motions its important to understand shape tweening can enhance the motion tweening by shape tweening corresponding frames inside of the motion tweened object. For example when the human bends over you dont want to first motion the body to tild and the shape the body to bend, you want to the body to tilt and bend at the same time. To do this, inside the body symbol, on the same frame the body tilts, you would make it also bend with a shape tween.
When using motion tweening with shape tweening any movement can be achieved. If your familiar with 3d, think of the motion tween as a movement along the x and y axis and the shapeing as sort of the z axis.
