well there's the one that comes with mac
i forgot the name but i'm sure someone else here can write it , imovie maybe
anyway it's not bad at all, infact i've seen a decent documentary film multi award winning and over an hour long (almost 2 hours long) done on that software alone. and done very well (not gonna talk about if it's a good movie or not) so - it may look "cheap" or poor on it's abilities but it can do more than it seem to. - imovie (i think. what ever comes with mac for free)

The program Audacity is a free audio editor that works pretty well

I haven't used it much since I don't do much audio editing, but I use it if I ever need to record from my computer.

AUDIO

Acid XPress
Loops-based program with FX, sampling, recording, film dubbing, etc. Check this puppy out for your musical composition needs. Loops are all over the 'net.

Audacity
A great audio editing/effects program - this is extremely powerful for a free application!

GoldWave
Shareware program, but works near-fully-featured for up to 150 commands (then you must save it, close it, and reopen it to keep working). But it's worth it!

PlayerPro
PlayerPRO is both complete music editing software and a SoundTracker player. You can use it with any Mac, without any specific hardware.

Pro Tools Free
Here's the free version of the extremely well-known package Pro Tools. It's big brother has been used in sound studios and many more locations for years and is one of the standards in the business.

WMA-MP3-WAV Converter
Has a free version and was recommended by forum user.

GIMP
It's not Adobe Photoshop, but it's darn similar. And did I mention it was free? Available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Celtx
A free, open-source screenwriting tool. It's a fantastic product. Exports to PDF, TXT, HTML.

Cinergy Script Editor
A free script editor for PC (Mac version coming soon), this application looks to be a handy tool for all your writing needs.

Mindola SuperNotecard for Scriptwriting
For decades, screen, television, and theater writers have used notecards to hone their craft. SuperNotecard for Scriptwriting offers distinct advantages over traditional script editing programs.

MoviePlanner
Excellent resource from Concept Work to Post Production. Keeps it all nice and neat and saves into nice small files ready for distributing. Your whole crew and cast should have this program.

OpenOffice
Don't have the money for Microsoft Office? Well this is the next best thing...and some would even say a better thing. It's a fully featured "Office" suite of tools just like Microsoft Word, Access, etc.

MPEG Streamclip
Fantastic converter for PC/Mac that can convert just about anything.

Riva FLV Encoder
Transode your existing videofiles to the advanced Flash Video (FLV) format with this free encoder.

Good list, but Avid Free DV isn't available anymore Shame, since I liked that program.

Darn it you're right - if someone wants to take it off the list that'd be great. Guess I'll have to update it elsewhere as well.
