I'm Robert Stone, the owner of Wildiron Inc. located in New Hampshire USA. We design and build custom motorcycles. We are a legitimate business with a physical location and we actually manage to make some money at this. If you have any concerns regarding our good faith intentions please contact the Better Business Bureau of New Hampshire and New Hampshire's Department of consumer affairs.
In a previous post titled freelance illustrators wanted we briefly outlined our efforts in deploying a subsidiary of Wildiron Inc. The subsidiary was and still is going to offer a product line with artistically inspired consumer goods such as handbags, briefcases, IPod cases, and other fashionable items. However, one of the elements of our product line has jumped to the forefront with significant interest from the marketplace.
Our Tattooable™ handbag or purse has been very well-received. Based on the feedback so far we have decided to launch this product and other Tattooable™ items as a completely independent venture.
We need to develop a corporate identity along with a product line identity for these Tattooable™ purses and other products, however the focus at this time will be on handbags and purses.
This is a corporate and product line identity contest. The winner of the contest shall receive $500 US dollars for their intellectual property/artwork. The contest format is sudden-death, which of course means the first package that we like, wins! Additionally the winner will hopefully become a freelance member of our design team and hopefully will have significant input on many aspects of development including web site and product line.
What we are selling. We are selling a Tattooable™ handbag or purse. If you have not guessed already the handbag is fully Tattooable™ just like your skin. You can view our original prototype and some bags we have sold in our DA gallery. The bags currently in design have varying shapes and sizes but still maintain the basic feel of our originals. We're mixing a lot of aluminum, stainless steel, recycled rubber, into the design of our next-generation bags. Some will have artwork on them similar to our license plate bags which can also be viewed in our gallery. The bags will be sold in several formats. First, they will be blank, allowing the customer to have the bag tattooed at the right time and place for them, also allowing their favorite tattoo artist to work on it. It can be utilized as a travel record, from New York City to Amsterdam, you can have it worked on when you travel. Of course you can bring your own art to a tattooist and have the bag serve as a portable gallery showcasing your skills and the skills of the tattoo artist. Second, the bags will be offered with some preliminary artwork geared towards a specific demographic and the customer will take it from there. Third, bags fully completed by some of the best tattoo artists around and sold as complete works of art. We see many different people from all walks of life enjoying this product, from the 15 year-old punk rocker to the 35-year-old marketing executive, this is a cool product. You can even have piercings done on it.
This is a brand new original product, nothing like this has been offered into the marketplace that we are aware of. We've gotten great feedback, are in the process of obtaining multiple utility and design patents, and of course we feel it is potentially a very successful product.
What we need from you. We need a corporate name, a product line name, and of course an image. You must come up with a package that has the right feel for our intended demographic which is the 15 to 30 year old female. A closer look at the demographic might be the fashion conscious, artistic, tattoo sporting or tattoo desiring (like those too young for a tattoo), hard rocking, adventurous and independent females.
Your submission should include the following:
A corporate name
A product line name (what are we going to call these Tattooable™ hand bags?)
A brief description of your design / marketing vision, for example please describe how you hope or expect our customers to feel when they view our marketing material and hear our corporate and product names.
Basic corporate logo. This does not have to be a finished piece of art work, just enough for us to get the idea and a foundation to build on.
Things to consider:
This contest is probably best suited to females. Of course we will entertain everyone's work that is sent to us. We fully understand and respect that many very successful products for females are designed by men. However in this case we feel a feminine touch may be required. It might be the touch of a hard charging, tattoo sporting, 19 year-old punk rocker, or a 36-year-old conservative corporate type but nonetheless a female. Gentlemen, please prove us wrong, in the end we really want a dynamite package regardless of whom creates it.
Domain name:
It will be important to us that a domain name that fits the package well is available. We will not pay a domain name company or anyone else more than $50 for a domain name on sheer principal. With this important detail in mind please remember the following:
DO NOT! Search for domain name availability if you feel you have a good idea for one. We have information on good authority that insiders that work at domain name registration companies routinely provide lists of searched domain names to the domain name sharks. For this project and for your own information, don't ever search a domain name unless you have your credit card in hand and are ready to make an immediate acquisition. Otherwise you may find that your name was bought five hours after you searched it, and then don't be surprised if it's offered for sale to you via spam. We have had it happened to us. If we like your package and you win the contest we will then search and purchase an appropriate domain name.
Ownership. By sending us an e-mail regardless of its completeness you agree that if it is chosen as a winning design, name, or other intellectual property the transfer of said intellectual property shall be immediate and in all respects. In return you shall receive $500 US dollars. Please do not send us any “ideas” or other intellectual property that you are not willing to exchange for the $500 US dollars offered. Of course this excludes, your portfolio and/or web site and similar materials.
Compensation. $500 US dollars. Payment will be made by pay pal or bank wire transfer. We do not send cash, money orders, Western Union, and the like, for this type of work. This is to help protect the intellectual property of others.
Our requirements for working together:
1) You are physically located within the continental United States or Canada. Preferably New York, Boston, or the East Coast.
Why? From time to time a project may require face-to-face interaction with us and our clients. We do not want to deal with the difficulties, costs, and time of international travel. Some exceptions may be made especially for outright purchase of full ownership artwork or IP.
2) You have all the equipment necessary to provide print ready artwork. Examples would include: All necessary computer equipment and a high-speed data connection.
3) You have a telephone at your computer workstation.
Why? Because most projects require a telephone conversation to be properly understood. We will call you on our dime.
4) You speak clear understandable English.
Why? This is the only language we know.
5) This freelance job offer is for deviant art members only. New members will be looked at carefully. This is to help protect the intellectual property of others.
Please do not call us, our phone rings almost continuously as it is.
Please e-mail contest submissions to the following address art@wildiron.com
If you have any questions, please e-mail us at the address above.
Please do not respond with your ideas in this forum as the potential for them to be stolen is higher than if you submit your ideas via e-mail.
Thank you for your interest. Please do not feel badly or insulted if we do not respond to your message or e-mail. Variety is the spice of life. Unfortunately, we cannot professionally respond to all the artists that express an interest in working with us.
Thank you,
Robert Stone

Yes it is, and may run for some time to come. It is a “sudden death” format but it is proving to be a difficult task to “brand” this product. We have received a lot of great art work and ideas; however the “ackage” or feel that we are hoping for has yet to pass across my desk.
We are actually selling product under our parent company Wild Iron Inc. Until an appropriate brand name presents itself.
Keep in mind, the brand name drives everything else. “Crocs” the slip on rubber like shoes that are very popular now is the type of name we are looking for in some sense. It is short, easy to say and spell, etc. It does not describe the item, but it works very well from a marketing sense.
Thanks,
Robert
