Okay, so it's summer, so I want to do a contest I've never done one before, and if this goes belly-up i'll probably never do one again, but I'm hugely bored right now.
Okay so:
*OPEN TO TRADITIONAL,DIGITAL AND PHOTOGRAPHY ONLY*
The Basic Outline
The Title: Story scenario. Deadline: August the 17th (But will be extended depending on how many entries there are). What-you-do: I'll write a short scene (a few lines long) that is not incredibly specific about locations or characters but only about emotions and stuff. You then portray this scene in any way you can -- that's traditional, digital, photos or whatever. Rules: -Must be your own -3 entries per person -Note me, comment on this journal or comment on the news article when you're done. -Comment on this journal or the article to say you're in, just so I know how many entries to expect.
The Scene
The amber sun set on the distant horizon, and the great creature, majestic and proud though he was, felt a pang of longing and grief. He knew what morning would bring, and as he turned to the oncoming darkness that was sweeping over the landscape beyond him, the night wind ruffled his already wild fur. He could smell that all too familiar smell drafting towards him, and he knew. He knew it was the time of reckoning. With a heavy heart, he started back, to where he knew that he would have to . . .
Now, as you can see, the 'creature' is not described in full, but that means that you can only enter animal art so that's no people, as people don't have fur. It can however, be mythical (centaurs, or anthro, part-humans are fine), fictional, your own creation or, of course, a normal animal (wolf, horse etc).
As you can see, only half the last sentence is there. Finish it off and you get brownie points.
Apart from that, I'll leave you to interpret the setting and what's going on.
The Judging
I will be judging, though I may draft in some help if there are so many entries. Also work will not be judged on quality but on how the artist has shown the scene and the characters emotions and the setting.
Prizes
I'm not a great artist, I don't have great connections or anything, so keeping that in mind, these are the prizes:
-1st Place- Full, backgrounded picture by up to 3 of your characters, shaded, coloured -- the works; a journal feature for 3 months; will fave and comment some of your best pieces; you'll be have 3 of your arts featured in the next 'Canine Features' news article.
-2nd Place- Backgrounded picture of up to 2 of your characters, shaded; journal feature for 2 months; fave and comment your most recent pictures; feature of 2 arts in next 'Canine Features' article.
-3rd Place- Plain backgrounded picture of 1 character;journal feature for a month; fave a comment on one picture; feature of 1 art in the next 'Canine Features' article.
***Also, anyone who enters will get this lineart [link] coloured as their character.
Please keep in mind, however, that I am a wolf artist, so I will only be able to do your prize as a wolf. I can draw horses, any kind of dog, and if you like I can turn your character into a wolf/dog/horse.
Most of all, have fun Don't take it to seriously, your entry doesn't have to be as serious as the written text is, you can make it as lighthearted as you like Just have a great summer and enjoy dA!
Any problems? Note me

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
