3d community at DA: Do we need one? What would it be like?

The 3d community thing kinda hijacked the original purpose of the thread so I figured its better to give this subject a thread of its own.

Basically I wonder do we need a 3d community here at DA.
Its not Cgtalk/cgSociety or other big name sites but we have people posting 3d stuff so why not.

To have a community you need people and I have serious doubts there will be enough people to have a viable 3d community here.

So, if you are interested in a 3d community, please post your thoughts on it.

I am interested in joining a 3d club for the general purpose of discussing light & shadow reflection and bump mapping, environments etc. to improve my 3d renderings. The apps that I use below in my sig may have different ways of applying them, but there could be a generic way of discussing them that others could chyme in on. Not so much on how one operates the software, but where one might add or remove alight, reflection map etc to improve the quality of the render.

I would be interested in a 3D community, personally I think 3D art gets ignored a lot here on the site. When was the last time you saw a 3D Daily Deviation, especially one done in Poser or DAZ|Studio? 3D art takes a great deal of skill and practice, certainly it's more difficult to create a good 3D render than it is to create a good photomanipulation, and you manips as DD's all the time! :) I'd even be willing to be a moderator for the community, if it would get 3D art more notice.

Definately interested. I personally find the CGTalk sites difficult to navigate. They are also aimed at high end 3D artists, which I certainly have a few years left before I can claim to be.

I'd be interested in more discussion groups, contests or collaborative work.

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help get it off the ground.

As the GDs for 3D, ^Bloodredsangre will be doing our best to expose and promote talent within the 3D gallery and the 3D gallery itself. By the way, there have been two 3D DDs a day for three days straight now.
