i used to love football video games back on snes/megadrive, n64 and ps1 etc, from iss and pro evo to sensible soccer and fifa etc, but then they didnt really seem to change or get any better(after say PES3? which was when i stopped playing them)

but ive just got hold of pro evolution soccer for the Nintendo Wii and i can honestly say its increadible, it puts you more in control of the action, you simply point where you want to pass to, much deeper than the traditional "only control 1 team member at a time" concept used on xbox360/ps3/ps2 versions of fifa and pes football games...

this game is very different to most football games, much more about the whole teams strategy and setting up plays/making opportunities etc etc...

really really good football game IF you can be bothered to put the time into learning it (id recommend about 1-2 weeks play just to become familiar with it all) highly recommended anyway, really makes other football games seem pretty basic in many ways (tho the graphics are definately better on ps3/xbox360, not that that matters in a football game really...

They're OK. I really one prefer to watch, if I play them I play with no rules and constantly tackle refs and coaches

lol :) well this game is a totally different take on football, u dont just control 1 man, you cant even tackle refs and coaches :P BUT you can command the ENTIRE team using real time pointer commands, ie: click on a member of your team and then a space and your player will run into that space... or point anywhere and press pass and you can pass directly to that spot...

really really great game, best football game ever i think :) maybe ud like it? but then it does take a lot of time to get used to and skilled at because theres so much room to learn deeper and more amazing skills etc...

anyway just a heads up for anyone who does like football games really, seems like in japan everyone has stopped playing the ps3/xbox360/ps2 versions of pes and are playing this version instead now!! and im not suprised it really is revolutionary

its good for what it is and certainly gets close if not better than pes2008 on 360/ps3, imo it is better overall, but its absolute crap compared to PES2008 on Wii as its pretty much the same as on n64/ps2/xbox etc... the wii version truely gives you more control over the team and better depth of gameplay etc...

make sure u try PES2008 on wii then ;) its a lot better than the currently getting-very-stale old school setup anyway... i still play pes2008 on pc sometimes etc, but since the wii version came out i dont thik ill ever go back to the old school PES/FIFA games for any long period of time etc

They never improved on Sensible Soccer :D Even now, I'm managing Port Vale to European Cup glory (yes, I'm sad, I know lol).
For seriously retro, I recently found Match Day II for the spectrum on an 80s nostalgia site [link] , it's pretty cool although I tend to lose 4-0 most times...
