So what is your favourite genre of music that not many people have heard of? Come on be a hipster!

I for one am a fan of Hard Dance.

One genre that to me seems to have few to none listeners is Funeral Doom Metal. I've only found one person this far that listens to it(not including myself there), and I've searched for some time now.

Funeral Doom Metal is, imo, the heaviest and most epic genre there is out there.

I don't even know how unheardof the genres I listen to are, but:
Psychedelic black metal (like Nachtmystium)
Doom metal is a pretty expansive and differentiated subgenre, despite falling under just 'doom', most metalheads don't know of it or don't care for it.
Southern metal is occasionally good too. (it's basically country-metal)

I listen to a lot of Metal and stuff that combines Metal and Hardcore/HC Punk. Thrash, Death, Sludge, Doom, Drone, Stoner, Grindcore, Black, Folk, and other tweak/micro genres (Depressive Suicidal Black metal, Technical Brutal Death metal, etc, etc, etc). And different combinations of multiple of these.

ZEUHL - ultra complex progressive rock with lots of jazz and classical influence, operatic vocals...just the fringe of avant-garde.

KRAUT ROCK - German psychedelic rock with heavy emphasis on improv and weird electronic soundscapes.

Not much of a genre but I'm somewhat interested in music from Central Asia, more or less from the countries of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan. Besides folk music from there they do have their share of pop and rock, some of them even fusing their folk music elements (like throat singing or instruments).

some examples (mostly from Kazakhstan unless noted):
"Tolgau" by Rin'Go www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShuzGN…
"Izin Konem" by Zhanar Dugalova youtu.be/sCVupX8udIk?t=2m16s
"Terisqaqpai" by Ulytau www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNYaRY…
something by folk music group Turan www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5CQ9W…

"Habibi" by Shahzoda (from Uzbekistan) www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmCqcV… (note she has another song called Habibi with Faydee which is a totally different song)

Funeral doom. I mean, there are maybe five good bands in the genre, but it's some deep stuff.

Haha seriously! Good fdm is so hard to find. Inverloch is the only band I've found in the genre in years that's even listenable.
