I used to reset my play count for everything at the beginning of a new year. I did that for about 3 or 4 years but eventually lost the point in it. Maybe I should do that again this new year though 
Go for it if you want! I think it would provide a neat insight into how your year went for you. Did sad songs sing to you or happy ones? Maybe a certain love song plucked just the right strings. It could provide a good way to show you how much you like your new music throughout the year.
