Could you recommend me some bands, that distribute their music for free? Preferably ambient.
The only ones I know are Conelrad and Stellardrone.

Hi Arc Tow

Digital label of some sort, all of the albums are free. Really good ambient stuff one there, alongside other electronic music and some Metal. I recommend Khand, a friend of mine is behind that project.

Noisetrade is a pretty good site. I went to a NEEDTOBREATHE concert and found out about Matthew Mayfield. His latest album is found in the website. You can download his whole album for free, and if you want, you can give a little tip for support :)

From what I've seen so far, it's mostly indie stuff. I think there's some music that you might be looking for there, though.

try bandcamp or soundcloud. A lot of artists release their music for free or for cheap.

I'd have to download and convert it(which AFAIK would be a copyright infringement) if I wanted to listen to it offline.

Youtube just doesn't cut it if you aren't a mostly-deaf individual. The quality is appalling.

In my opinion, "free music from Youtube" is like saying "there's free food in the trash cans".

Dude, the quality is fine. What do your ears have robotic purity sensors? Maybe your speakers are a pile of shit..

The difference between a clean 320 kbps and a something on Youtube is clearly audible on my Adam A7X speakers.

If all your offline music is 128 kbps Limewire downloads you can't tell the difference between that and Youtube anyway. Shit comes in, shit goes out.

I don't use Limewire, hell I don't even download music unless I need it for a video.

Macronizm. It's Dutch hiphop. I don't know if you speak Dutch. Or Death Grips, they've got most of their stuff for free online. I'm not much of an ambient listener, so I wouldn't know about that.

Thanks, but I'm not really a fan of hip-hop.

I'm not much of an ambient listener, so I don't know what to suggest you I'm afraid. Shoegazing? You enjoy shoegazing?
