When covering a song, it can go two ways. They can absolutely kill it or they can destroy it.
So what are some of your favourite covers of songs by other artists?
Here are some of mine...
Power of Love - Gabrielle Aplin (Originally by Frankie goes to Hollywood) [link] Replay - Close to Home (Originally by Iyaz) [link] Violet Hill - Pendulum (Originally by Coldplay) [link] Last Friday Night - Woe, Is Me (Originally by Katy Perry) [link] P.Y.T. - Alex Goot (Originally by Michael Jackson) [link]
My Generation (Green Day, originally by The Who) Killboy Powerhead (The Offspring, originally by the Digits)
I can't really think of any more covers I like, there's some more obscure ones like Teenage Bottlerocket's version of Green Day's 'Having a Blast' but usually I find most artists these days find it difficult to produce a quality cover.
"People have the power" by Ola Salo (together with First Aid Kit and Veronica Maggio as backup singers). The original is sung by Patti Smith. "Styr den opp" by Peps Persson. The original by Bob Marley.
Long Way Down by Haste the Day (Originally by the Goo Goo Dolls) I Only Wanna Be With You by Samantha Fox (originally by Dusty Springfield) I Want Out by Sonata Arctica (Originally by Helloween) Please Mr. Postman by the Beatles (Originally by the Marvelettes) You Can't Hurry Love by Phil Collins (Originally by The Supremes)
