This is oddly a growing trend in China for Tibetan music. There's also Chinese reggae. [link] I was in a really goddamn hipster record store and a staff member came up to me and was like "Chinese Reggae" and I was like "What...the...fuck...he has dreads."
Oh my, to be honest when I first saw his face I didn't think he was chinese. XD On a closer look, he looks like some kung-fu guy.
And the song's good too.
It's always interesting to have a listen to these chinese bands. I have been into folky chinese black metal for a while now. (I think the video you linked is from the same uploader who usually shares chinese metal stuff . Hahas coincidence.)
When I first heard the song, it was my dad singing it years ago, and I thought it was something he randomly came up with as a crazy song to amuse me and my sisters. I realized about two years ago that it really was a song way back when with ab official video and was like, "Wtf?" Lol
I saw him live a while back. Before he went on, he had a projector screen behind the stage. There was a puppet of an alien on there, and they were blasting the spice girls, and baja men, and Vengaboys and all these terrible pop hits from the 1990s, and the alien on the screen was like "HAHAHAHAHA YOU ALL HAVE TO SIT HERE AND LISTEN TO ALL THIS SHITTY MUSIC!"
It makes me laugh thinking about it to this day hahaha!
